In any case, I think the order and magnitude of memories depend on the individual. There doesn't seem to be a pattern.

I remember the man who owned me and used me in battle.

I was also in a temple for a long time.

Believe me, I know. But not much else I have remembered makes sense if I don't accept this as a premise.

Do you remember the battles themselves?

I wasn't used in very many. I remember the one in which my owner died pretty sharply though.

There are quite a lot of blades used as votive offerings in Japan. This is especially true of longer blades since they were forbidden to be used as weapons under the Tokugawa shogunate.

Also if swords can be sentient what else can be?? Or is that exclusive to just swords?

Well, Japan has this concept called 'tsukumogami',
or the god of objects.

Basically any object that is being used by humans for a very long time can gain their own spirit or consciousness.

It's a myth, though. I mean, I thought it was until I learned I was one.
